So my hack is to put a cushion between the speakers and the palm wrest, I have to measure the clearance first between the two and make sure I put just enough to keep them apart but not enough to jam the speakers down. With higher sound, they vibrate, the speakers move up and down the screw shafts, luckily the grommets dampen the vibrations on the screws, but what happens when the top of the speaker hits the underside of the palm wrest? Annoying sound, that's what. The rubber grommets on the screws that hold the speakers are a given, but the fact that the case is plastic, the palm rests can flex up and down. I don't blame the Klipsche speakers, but the design could have used a bit more attention to detail. Paying a premium for something that sounds like a rattler.

I reciently received my M17x R3 and for the most part it is working out very well. It's a pain as I have to disassemble the laptop. I have an idea for a mod that will fix this. If it goes away then it's the case rattling. Does it sound distorted? If you put a bit of pression on the palm wrest above the left speaker does it go away?
